Ambassador handbook
For people who've been invited to be a brand ambassador on SocialMediaBucket. Tells you what you signed up for, what you can expect, and the powers you keep. Brand admins, you might also want to read the brand guidelines.
1. What ambassadorship means here
Being a brand ambassador on SocialMediaBucket means a brand has invited you to see their content first and share what resonates with you. It's an informal relationship — not a contract, not employment, not a regulated agency arrangement. You like the brand, they like you, and SMB is just the tool that gets the photos / videos / words to you cleanly.
You can be an ambassador for as many brands as you want. Each one is independent — your data isn't shared between them.
2. Your duties
None are legally enforced by SMB. These are the soft norms that make the relationship work:
- Share in good faith. If you stop liking the brand, stop sharing. Don't quietly grift while bad-mouthing them in DMs to friends.
- Disclose if your jurisdiction requires. In most places (US FTC, UK ASA, EU, Nigeria FCCPC) an ongoing relationship with a brand needs disclosure —
#ad,#sponsored, "paid partnership" tag, etc. This is true even if no money changes hands. Your platform's UI usually has a built-in toggle for it. - Tag the brand. When you share, mention them — that's how they (and SMB's stats) know it's you. Untagged shares don't get attributed.
- Respect copyright + likeness rights. If the artefact features a model / employee / customer, don't reuse it in a way the brand didn't intend (e.g. on a personal context that misrepresents the original setting).
- Tell them if you're leaving. A two-line "thanks, I'm stepping back" message saves awkwardness.
3. Your powers
These are the things you keep that the brand can't override:
- You can leave any time. One click on /amb-account/. The brand can't trap you. They also can't see any reason you might give (we don't collect one).
- You decide what to share. Skip anything that doesn't fit you. The brand sees your share count — they don't see what you scrolled past.
- You choose where to share. The platforms the brand suggests are just suggestions. Your Instagram is your Instagram.
- You can stop notifications independently. /amb-account/ → notification preferences. Turn off emails, turn off push, turn off both — your dashboard still shows what's new when you log in.
- Your data is yours. Email [email protected] and we'll send you everything we have on you (every action you took, every notification, every login) within 14 days. See the Privacy notice.
- You can be in multiple brand programs. SMB doesn't tell brands what other programs you're in. That's between you and them if it comes up.
5. Leaving
Leave one brand
/amb-account/ → list of brands you're in → "Leave this brand". Effective immediately. They can't add you back without sending a fresh invite. Your past share history with them stays in their audit log (they paid for those analytics; we keep them).
Delete your whole account
/me/ → "Delete account". This soft-deletes you for 30 days, then permanently purges. You can recover by signing in within that window. After day 30 it's gone — emails, name, share history, push subscriptions, everything we have.
If a brand goes away
Brands that delete their org or stop paying their bill: you stop getting their artefacts immediately. Your data with that brand is purged on their cleanup. Your account on SMB is unaffected.
6. FAQ
Will I get paid?
Depends entirely on the brand. SMB doesn't handle payouts and has no opinion on whether you should be paid. Ask the brand directly; this should have been clear in the invite or onboarding message they sent you.
Can I share artefacts to platforms the brand didn't list?
Yes. The platform tags are a hint, not a restriction. If the brand listed only IG + TikTok but you have a great LinkedIn audience, share there anyway and tag them.
Can I edit the caption when I share?
Yes — totally. The caption SMB shows is a starting point, not a mandate. Most ambassadors edit it. The Copy caption button just saves you typing.
Can a brand force me to share something?
No. Skipping artefacts is normal and expected. Even your share count is a soft signal — brands optimise for breadth of reach, not 100% participation.
Can a brand see my email?
Yes — the email you accepted the invite with is visible to the brand's admins. If you don't want them to have it, accept the invite with a separate email address.
Can a brand see my phone number?
Only if you typed it on your profile. Phone is optional everywhere.
What if I think a brand is misusing my data?
Email [email protected]. We'll investigate. If we find the brand violated our terms we'll act on it; we can't force them to follow your local laws but we can stop them using SMB.
What if I'm asked to share something I don't believe in?
Don't share it. There is no penalty inside SMB for skipping artefacts. If the brand pressures you outside SMB, that's a relationship issue — your call whether to leave the program.
Why no app?
SMB on phone works fine in Safari / Chrome. Hit "Add to Home Screen" and you get an icon that opens the bucket directly. Native apps add a layer of install + permissions + updates we don't think justifies the cost.
